The Youth Development Delegates in the Arab Region programme is the result of a partnership between The Arab Youth Center (AYC) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Arab States. This employment program, in its first phase, will provide the opportunity for 11 Arab youth who are passionate about achieving the sustainable development goals to work for 2 years at the UNDP offices in their countries under the field of youth work to achieve the common vision of both parties aimed at enabling the youth in the Arab region.
Najeeb is a graduate of New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). He attained six years of experience working in various fields such as “Administration, Operations and programming.”
Najeeb works currently in the UNDP RBAS as a “Youth Project Assistant” and a “Regional Coordinator.
He is a dynamic and an ambitious individual who is constantly eager to learn and who’s motivated by working on new and innovative projects. He’s interested as well in helping youth across the region and enabling them to become social innovators, thinkers and leaders in their communities.
Ahmed is a graduate of Griffith University in Australia, majoring in Multimedia. He recently graduated with an MA in “Ecological Design Thinking” from Schumacher College, University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom, exploring, through his dissertation, the quality of stewardship and its significance for human purpose.
He attained years of experience working in many fields of work in various countries, , from hospitality and social work in Australia, to landscaping and consultancy work in Bahrain and Oman. Due to the diversity of these positions, Ahmed was able to observe social and cultural dynamics in different environments and learn how to listen profoundly and tell the stories of people he interacted and engaged with.
He dedicates his life and work to the socio-ecological evolution of our presence on Earth. His passion focuses nowadays on investigating the usage of design-thinking processes in order to help with the transition of societies towards regenerative and developed cultures.
Ahmed enjoys hiking and camping in wild landscapes, as well as cooking and hosting people often.
Nadine is graduate of American University of Beirut, majoring in Business Administration. She attained experience working as a project coordinator and research assistant for three different learning programs in the faculty of “Health Science”. In addition, she worked as an administrative assistant for three continuous years at the Registrar’s Office within the same educational institution.
In 2017, she joined the youth leadership program, and she is an active YLP Alumni member who has received various hands-on activities and workshops on leadership skills, entrepreneurship and communication skills. Nadine brought great energy, passion, support and commitment to the Programme.
In 2018, Nadine worked with two different startups, preparing for their marketing campaigns, as well as content developing and organizing events that widened their scope of work in the region.
Nadine is currently working along with the youth focal point on developing a whole new strategy for youth agenda in Lebanon and the region.
Salima is a graduate of El Manar University in Tunisia, majoring in Economics.
Since 2014, Salima worked in various positions, allowing her to develop a multi-skilled profile. In 2014, during her first year as a master student, Salima created a pioneer soft-skills focused club in her university where she worked with other members on capacitating young students for career-growth.
From 2015 to 2017, she worked in a private language institution, teaching young children communication and language skills.
In 2018, Salima took part in organizing the team of 2018 Work Junior Taekwondo Championships, where she immersed in a multi-cultural work environment, following her believes in social cohesion through “Sports for Development”.
As an active member of Social Media Club Tunisia, she advocates on digital community innovation, and the future of work and human rights in the digital age. She believes in technology as a powerful and transparent advocacy tool for young people in Tunisia.
Sarah is a graduate of Birzeit University in 2015, majoring in Business Administration. Since graduating, Sarah has been working towards creating a positive change in the Palestinian and Arab World. Focusing on communication and public relations, Sarah works with changemakers and young innovators to help deliver real impact in the society.
Starting her career as a Public Relations Officer in a media production start-up, Sarah made her way to working as a PR and Communications Officer in Al Nayzak for “Supportive Education and Scientific Innovation”, by continuously improving her skills and expanding her knowledge.
She is currently preparing for her Master’s degree in Human Resources and Organizational Development.
Sarah is originally from Qalqilyah, Palestine, and is currently living with her husband and young girl in Aroura, a small village near the city of Ramallah.
Walid is a graduate of Angers University, majoring in Engineering of Systems. Walid is a Youth activist, social entrepreneur and mind challenger, focusing his efforts to enable creative thinking, entrepreneurship, and innovation for the common social good.

Aya is a graduate of Damascus University, majoring in Biomedical Engineering. She’s a dedicated entrepreneur and engineer from Syria, who’s interested in solving problems and improving our everyday reality.
She started her journey by working on her own start-up, with the purpose of eliminating the gap between “deaf and hearing people”. She also participated in AYSM 2019 with her start-up “Sivo”.
Motivated by her powerful beliefs in education, entrepreneurship and youth, Aya looks forward to engage in any activity that creates better opportunities for the youth in Syria.
Ahmad is a graduate of Cairo University, majoring in Computer and Communications Engineering, with a GPA of 3.90.
Alongside his studies, Ahmad was an active member and participant in student activities, becoming the Secretary General of the Cairo University Model UN (ALMUN), the biggest simulation model in the biggest university in Africa, during his senior year. During ALMUN, Ahmad developed his leadership and communication skills as well as his organizational and time management skills. His love for his work and academics in ALMUN are what encouraged him to go into the Development field.
He interned in UNDP Egypt, assisting the team by writing articles, preparing ToRs, helping organize events and camps, and worked in the fields of impact investing and social entrepreneurship.
Ahmad enjoys different sports, as well as reading Philosophy, and learning Spanish.
Abdullahi Hersi Hashi is a graduate of Egypt University, majoring in Finance. He attained 7 years of experience working with NGOs and organizations in different fields such as youth mentoring, finance and administration.
He currently works as the Deputy Manager for the Serendi youth Rehabilitation center, where he supervises more than 60 staff members and runs a facility that accommodates more than 200 people.
Abdullahi speaks three languages: Somali, Arabic and English. He likes volunteering as well as teaching, as he was a lecturer in one of the universities in Somalia.
Alaa is a graduate of Applied Science Private University in Jordan, majoring in Accounting. He attained experience working in designing and implementing sustainable programs in different regions in Jordan.
He’s passionate about humanitarian innovative and entrepreneurial initiatives that drive sustainable change to youth and vulnerable communities.
He initiated and ran the first FabLab in a refugee camp (Zaatari Syrian refugee camp). Recently, Ala joined a governmental program that aims of empowering youth and engaging them in the political decision-making process of the Kingdom.
Mahyoub is a graduate of Djibouti University, who attained a master degree in management and strategies. He joined the UNDP team in the YLP program, holding the position of youth development delegate.
His previous positions include “Director of Human Resources” in the hotel industry and “HR & Finance support” at ACF.
During his free time, Mahyoub helps young people in their studies, by guiding them on professional and personal projects. He also trains them and sometimes supports them in finding internships so they can participate in the professional world and gain knowledge by practicing.
